Echoes

The big tree is gone,

The million pine needles swept up,

Each cherished ornament lovingly packed away,

Our home back in order from the joyful chaos of the season,

Everything back in its place.

All that is left are echoes,

Echoes of carols sung,

The laughter of friends,

The aromas of festive meals

And cookies baked.

Echoes of hugs received,

And toasts given.

The echoes of life in this wonderful old house,

So much love, so much gratitude.

Echoes to cherish,

To tuck away in our hearts.
